The Real Meaning of Christmas - Harriet Lynn Nowlin

A star shining brightly above
The stable where the Christ child lay.
A manger cradling God's gift of love
Sleeping peacefully on the fresh, clean hay.

The look in a child's eyes
As he sees a star shining on top of the Christmas tree.
Then lifts his gaze up to the brightly lit skies
Wherever he looks God's creations he will see.

Presents under the tree
Gifts we give to those we love.
God gave the first Christmas gift to you and me
Humbly, silently he sent his son from above.

Christmas songs that fill the air
Praising God, Joyously telling of Christ's birth.
The Greatest proof to us of his love and care
To everyone living here on Earth.

Reaching out and offering HOPE to those in need
Not counting the cost of giving aid.
Turning away from selfishness and greed
In gratitude and love you are amply repaid.

Love....praise....HOPE ... prayer
Help to all who come our way.
Letting others know that we care
In simple loving things we do and say.

What is the real meaning of Christmas?
The baby Jesus ... a gift of love.
