The wind ran out of breath - Lenten devotional for March 14th

Please read the scripture from The Message, then meditate on it as if you were a disciple then meditate some more.

In the boat again. Crossing the Sea again. I’m getting tired of this cat and mouse game – then I wonder – Is Jesus trying to get away from the crowds – Or is he testing them – seeing how far they will go (literally) to hear his stories…

We’re all dead tired. Jesus is so tired he falls asleep in the boat. But then a storm comes up. What an adrenaline rush – we don’t want to drown and Jesus is still sleeping!!!

So we wake Jesus up – which in a way is kind of stupid “We want you to be awake with us when we all drown.”

But Jesus says to the wind and waves “Quiet! Settle Down!” and they do – the wind is gone and the waves too!!! Then Jesus says to us “Don’t you have any faith?” Then he lays down and goes back to sleep.

We’re all left with our jaws hanging open saying “Faith in what? Faith in who?”

Why didn’t he stay awake and explain this one to us???
