Now a religion scholar – He’s actually respectful! “Which is the most important commandment?”
Jesus replied “Love Go with all you’ve got!”
“Love others as you love yourself!”
I can’t really describe the scholar’s reaction: awe, relief, joy… like an epiphany! Like – that’s so easy compared to 100’s of detailed rules!!!
Jesus complimented him.
I wonder if he will start following Jesus. After being with Jesus for three years I know that those “two” commandments encompass a whole lot more…. Not in “details” and “rules” but in having a right heart!
You can’t really “keep score” with these two commands – they are not a checklist. And you can’t really tell about another person by watching them – you have to get to know their heart.
Can anyone really know someone else’s heart?
Can anyone really know their own heart?
