The Leper - A Lenten devotional for March 5th

Please read the scripture from The Message, then meditate on it as if you were a disciple then meditate some more.

Click here to read today's scripture,  Mark 1:35-45  in The Message.

So Jesus leaves Capernaum because people keep tracking him down –
                In homes
                In gardens
                In secluded places

Then we go to meeting places all through Galilee. And he’s teaching. And he’s throwing out demons.

This guy walks up – a leper – with a whole different approach…
Instead of “Heal Me” a command
Instead of “Please Heal Me” a request
He says to Jesus, “If you want to, you can heal me.”

Jesus did a double take. We all did a double take.

Then Jesus says, “Yes, I want to. Be clean.”

The leper was healed of leprosy the INSTANT Jesus touched him.

I think the leper was healed of much more than leprosy….
