UMW HOSTING EVENT THIS FRIDAY

Wesley House of Knoxville is a Christian ministry serving inner-city residents of Knoxville. The ministry started a program for seniors in the early 1950's. The United Methodist Women of 1st UMC are big supporters of Wesley House.

On Friday, September 18th, the UMW will be hosting a lunch and Bingo for the senior ladies of Wesley House. This event will be held in Wesley Hall. Any women of the church who would like to assist with food preparation or serving, please contact Donna Doede at 856-0276.

In addition, church asking members of the church to donate items for prizes and goodie bags for the 29 ladies expected to attend. Items for prizes could include pretty dish towels, bath clothes, hand soaps and jewelry. Goodie bag items needed include lotions, toilet tissue, paper towels, dish soap, facial tissues, hotel size soaps and shampoos. These items are not covered by food stamps and are needed by the ladies. There will be a collection box near the office for you to drop off these items.

READY FOR PECAN SALES

Fall is fast approaching and so are fresh pecans. UMW members will be taking orders for pecans during September and October with delivery scheduled for November. So start thinking about how many ways you can use pecans and be ready to order!

HOLSTON CONFERENCE UMW

September 19-20 is the date for the Holston Conference UMW Annual Meeting. It is held at Lake Junaluska, NC. District Officer Training is included in the conference.
