HOPE for Recovery - Sandy Hodson (for Recovery at Maryville)

Living in the Moment

How do you live in the moment?  If you are codependent you probably feel that you must be in control and fix everything.  What we need to do is to step back and let things unfold.  By doing so, it will give you a sense of peace.  At times we are too busy thinking about what's next to pay attention to what is in front of you.

By not enjoying what's in front of you, you miss the beauty of what God is trying to do in front of you that will nourish you and sustain you and put HOPE in your emotional and spiritual bank. ~ Mark Beebe

Compulsion and addiction is a disease of our "emotions".  You have got to have HOPE in your emotional bank to get through tough times.

Four things that makes us avoid moments of glory where we are hanging out with God:
1. Unmet expectations
2. Unresolved grief
3. Busyness
4. Controlling

Why we need to give God our full attention:    Read Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength always ready to help in times of trouble ... Be still and know that I am God.

Sometimes we need God to put his hands on our faces and tell us we are going to be alright.  We must slow down and live in the moment in front of us.  It could be that God is trying to tell us just that!

Come worship with us on Wednesday nights.  Bring someone with you!  Recovery is meeting as part of the Contemporary Christmas Eve Worship service and there will be Recovery worship on New Year's Eve. Recovery needs your support not only with your prayers but also with your presence.

Everyone at Recovery HOPEs you have many moments during this Holiday season to stop and pay attention.
